A highly efficient form of pallet rack storage, push back racking systems allow palletised goods to be stored up to several rows deep. With this system, pallets are fed onto trolleys and held in place by steel guide rails, which are placed on a slight incline, facing towards the front of the aisle. Pallets are loaded by forklift or similar device into the front of the storage racks, with additional loaded items pushing the front pallets backwards.
When a front pallet is removed, the sloped guide rail system forces the next pallet to move towards the front and immediately take its place. This innovative storage system is capable of storing almost all pallet types and can be customised to suit a companys specific needs for the fast and efficient handling of stocked inventory.
What Are the Benefits of Push Back Racking?
Easy to Install push back pallet racking Installation is simple and straightforward
Different stockkeeping unit (SKU) for Each Level - each storage rack level can be used to accommodate a different item type (SKU)
Greater Storage Capacity push back racking systems can increase storage capacity by up to 50% over alternative systems.
Enhanced Productivity push back racking can offer substantial improvements to materials handling efficiency, with less time spent retrieving and depositing items, given the ability of pallets to automatically reposition themselves within the lane when an item is deducted. Also, item placement and removal is conducted in a single, central aisle, making travel times between order picking faster
Low maintenance with items accessed from pallet racking systems using heavy duty equipment such as forklifts, costly damage to storage racks is an ongoing threat. One of the biggest problems with storage systems that utilise rollers is that the rollers can often jam, causing the items to become stuck. Not only does the time required to repair the system cripple warehouse operations, resulting in financial losses, it also costs a small fortune to repair the system, due to strict warehouse safety regulations. With some alternative systems, a sizeable portion of storage rack parts need to be replaced each year, due to forklift damage. In comparison, push back racking requires very little maintenance and repairs
Economical by allowing warehouses to store items up to several pallets deep, push back racking offers a superior storage density, allowing companies to maximise their storage space while minimising floor space. Furthermore, with durable components that can always be counted on to deliver, you have a system that requires minimal expenditure to keep in working order
Precision Placement forklift operators are able to easily deposit pallets with absolute precision, ensuring maximum security of the pallet, while guaranteeing a high degree of safety for order pickers
Easy Integration push back racking systems can be easily integrated with existing storage systems
Compatibility these systems are suitable for use with pallets from across the globe
Standard Forklifts with stored pallets able to freely slide to the front of the drive bay along the rails, there is no need for a special forklift such as deep reach
Ideal for Load Marshalling push back racking is well suited to load marshaling, enabling the secure storage of items up to several pallets deep
Perfect for Bulk Storage items can be stored in their own individual lane, making push back ideal for bulk storage purposes
Which Warehouse Operations Will Benefit from Push Back Racking?
Like all storage systems, Push Back Racking is best suited to specific warehouse conditions. This includes warehouse operations that require the following:
A storage system that benefits from the Last In, First Out (LIFO) stock rotation principle
High-density storage of low-medium SKU count
Where full pallet selectivity is not needed
